RUMINATION

One of the biggest problems I observe today, not including the spiritual decline, is a lack of intellectual engagement. People are quick to give opinions, but often those opinions are not formed through reflection and thought; people seldom take time to read and reflect upon what has been learned to grow their intellectual prowess. Instead, there is the television and fast past simplistic entertainment. Sports, games, and races take the place that was once held by dramas, the orchestra, and the written word. Therefore, through much deliberation, I have decided that it would benefit my development as a wordsmith to start writing more. With this conundrum, I began thinking about ways to engage myself in this activity more often. Some obvious ways would be to write and store the data on a cloud server or in an external memory bank. However, that would not allow the thoughts to challenge or encourage others. By starting a blog, I can further hone my skill with words, challenge my thinking, and improve my communication ability in sermons. All while giving others topics to think about and reflect upon. With these thoughts in mind, I have decided to reflect on my reading and to take more careful and purposeful thought into my meditations. I will be posting my thoughts on this little blog. Feel free to follow the journey if you want; all I ask is that you take the time to give a fair trial to the thoughts and ideas that I will share on this page. Remember that I do not necessarily believe them all myself; this is, after all, the ruminations of a sinful man.
